thexsys, QuickBooks and Xero
QuickBooks and Xero are excellent accounting tools, and many businesses connect other apps around them for stock, sales, the till and payroll. thexsys is the whole business in one system: one database for the books and everything that feeds them, in Arabic and English. Here is how they differ — including where they are ahead.

| What you get | thexsys | QuickBooks and Xero |
|---|---|---|
| What it covers | ||
| What one subscription runs | The whole business in one database: sales, purchasing, stock, the till, HR and payroll, projects and the books. A sale at the till or a goods receipt posts to the same ledger, with no sync in between. | Accounting first: invoices, bills, banking, VAT and reports. Deeper stock, the till, manufacturing and HR usually come as separate connected apps. |
| Stock and purchasing | Warehouses, purchase orders, goods received notes with a quality check, serial numbers, sizes and colours, and reorder suggestions. | Basic stock tracking in some plans; several warehouses, batches and landed costs usually through connected apps, to our knowledge. |
| The till | POS and POS Restaurant in the same system: a paid bill becomes the invoice, the stock movement and the journal entry at once. | Through connected point-of-sale apps that send sales into the books, to our knowledge. |
| When the business grows | Switch on the next app — CRM, projects, manufacturing, helpdesk — in the same database, with nothing to migrate. | Add apps from their marketplaces, each with its own subscription and its own sync, or move to an ERP. |
| Languages and the Gulf | ||
| Arabic and English | Written in both at the same time: the layout is built right-to-left, a build check refuses left-to-right-only rules, and every Arabic plural form is in the catalogues. | English interfaces, to our knowledge; check how Arabic prints on their invoices. |
| E-invoicing | ZATCA Fatoora phase 2 for Saudi Arabia and PINT-AE for the UAE, built into the invoice itself, in the same ledger. | VAT returns in the versions sold in some Gulf countries; Saudi e-invoicing through add-on apps where available, to our knowledge — check for your country. |
| Payroll and WPS | The Payroll (GCC) app: WPS files for Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, end-of-service, allowances, loans and payslips. | Their own payroll serves other markets; Gulf payroll and WPS through third-party apps, to our knowledge. |
| Where the data lives | Runs on Google Cloud in Doha, Qatar; tenant data stays in that region. | Their cloud, in the regions they choose — see their own pages. |
| Pricing and your accountant | ||
| How you pay | One app free forever. Paid plans from $9 per user / month, and every app is included from Standard at $19. Customers and suppliers on the portal never count as seats. | Monthly plans by feature level, with connected apps billed by their own vendors. See their pricing page. |
| Your accountant | Your accountant works in your books from the accountants portal, and you can find one in our public directory. | Very widely known among accountants, with their own programmes and directories for accountants. |
| Things accounting tools leave to other apps | ||
| Quote options across sister companies | One quotation in several options, each one issued from whichever of your companies should carry it. | Not in the product, to our knowledge. |
| Drop a quotation, get the lines | Drop a supplier quotation as a PDF or a photo and its lines are read on our own servers — no AI provider involved. English-language documents today; Arabic is next. | Bill and receipt capture is available; how it is processed and priced is theirs to state. |
| Cheque printing | Print the cheque itself on the bank’s own stationery, from a payment voucher, with a layout editor for any bank not yet listed. | Cheque printing for some countries’ layouts; check whether your bank is covered. |
| Delivery platforms | Connect: orders from the delivery platforms in one screen, the menu and stock pushed back out, and the payout reconciled to the bank. | Through third-party connectors, where they exist for your platforms. |

Where they are stronger
A comparison that wins every row is not worth reading. These are real advantages, and you should weigh them.
- If all you need is the books, QuickBooks and Xero are simpler to start with and very polished at what they do.
- A great many accountants already know them, and many firms in the region use them every day.
- Their app marketplaces connect to a very large number of other services, and their bank feeds cover many banks in their home markets.
- Both have long track records, independent security certifications and mature native mobile apps. We are working towards SOC 2 Type I, and our mobile family is smaller.
Questions
I only need accounting. Is thexsys too much?
Start with only what you need. One app is free forever, and you switch on the next one when the business needs it, in the same database. Our plans are on the pricing page.
Can I move from QuickBooks or Xero?
Yes. The X Migration app takes products, customers, suppliers and stock from a file exported by your old system: upload, map the columns, preview, run — and undo if something is wrong. A thexsys partner can do the move for you. Opening balances go in as a journal entry, which your accountant or the partner can prepare.
Will my accountant be able to work in it?
Yes. Accountants work in your books from the accountants portal, and thexsys Academy has an accountant track whose credential anyone can verify.
Is thexsys cheaper than QuickBooks or Xero?
For the books alone, compare the plans on each pricing page. For the whole business, add up the accounting plan and every app connected around it, and compare that with the one thexsys plan you would need.
