What it does

The work Online Storefronts takes off your desk on an ordinary day.

01

The order arrives, and the shelf knows

A signed webhook per shop, the payload kept exactly as it arrived, and the same order twice is still one order however many times the platform retries. Accepting it reserves the stock, which is the only thing that stops two shops selling the same last piece inside the same second.

02

The drift screen

A shop quietly selling at last month's price, or showing six of something you have none of, is how every connector fails. So the listing screen shows both figures side by side — what we published and what the shop says it is showing, read back from the shop itself — and a listing nobody has read back says so instead of pretending to agree.

03

Two parcels, two tracking numbers

One item is in the shop and the other arrives on Thursday, so an online order is routinely shipped twice. Each parcel is its own record with its own lines and its own tracking number, handed back to the shop so the buyer is emailed — and the order's state is computed from the parcels rather than set by hand, so the two can never disagree.

04

The buyer paid Shopify, not you

That is an accounting fact, and the ledger says it: the invoice raises the receivable, and one entry replaces it with what the shop owes you plus what it kept. By the time the deposit lands, the receivable is already sitting on the right account waiting for it.

05

Four buckets, not one number

"The deposit is 340 short" is not something anybody can act on. So a payout is matched order by order into four buckets: agreed, disagreeing with the amount named, on their statement and not in your orders, and — the one nobody ever catches — in your orders and absent from their statement.

06

A shop being slow is not your problem

Everything owed outward — a price, a quantity, a tracking number, a cancellation — goes through a queue that retries with backoff and then stops and tells somebody. A shop that is rate-limiting you never holds up a picker, and a push that has given up is on the screen rather than lost.
