What it does

The work Product Configurator takes off your desk on an ordinary day.

01

Rules that refuse the impossible

Four rules cover what a workshop actually knows: this needs that, this rules that out, this forces that, and this question is only asked above a certain size. A choice that cannot be made is disabled with the reason on it, in the language the customer is being spoken to in — not greyed out in silence.

02

The contradiction is caught before the customer

Rules written months apart start contradicting each other, and the usual way to find out is a customer sitting in front of you with a configuration that will not complete. Publishing runs the whole rule set first: a choice that pulls in its own exclusion, a required question with no possible answer, two questions each waiting for the other. It is refused at the desk of the person who wrote it.

03

A price that shows its arithmetic

Base, then every option, then the per-square-metre formula written out as 2.16 m² × 480, then the margin, then the minimum charge, then the rounding — each on its own line, and the total is their sum. A salesperson who cannot explain a number does not defend it, and a number nobody defends gets discounted.

04

Measurements drive the price

Half of configured-to-order trades price by measurement, not by choice: a worktop per square metre, an extrusion per metre, a plate per kilogram, edge banding per perimeter metre. Tag a width and a height and the formulas have something to work on — in millimetres, because that is what a workshop types.

05

The same choices always give the same line

Every configuration carries a hash of its choices and a generated description in both languages, so two people configuring the same thing produce one identical line — and a quote priced in March still reads as March after somebody edits the template in September, because the line keeps its own copy.

06

And the workshop gets its component list

Where a choice names a real component, the confirmed configuration can write the bill of materials its answers imply — per square metre where it was priced per square metre. Where Manufacturing is not installed, nothing breaks and nothing is invented: the configuration simply has no BOM.
